P.S. [CLASS 2. Biological Database Search Exercise.]
- Boolean operators should be in CAPITAL LETTERS (AND, OR, NOT)
- The same results can be achived in more than one way (i.e. with different queries)
- Providing authors initials is important for a more precise search
- Search Field Tags always go after the search term
- If you do not use search field tags, Entrez will interpret your search using term-mapping (and not necessarily the way you want)
- ISI's Web of Science is not a free database, so if you access it off campus, you need to go through library's web page (if this link does not work, go to the library home page, select "Indexes and Databases" under "Quick Links", search for "Science Citation Index" and choose "off-campus" access).
- POST YOUR COMPUTER LAB QUESTIONS TO MOODLE'S FORUM. I will try to post short answers and may choose some questions to go over in class. I encourage you to help each other with the computer lab problems.
